10 Apr April 2026 – MacAdmins Meeting
April 15th, 2026 – University of Utah, MacAdmins Meeting

The University of Utah MacAdmins Meeting is held virtually monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11 AM Mountain Time. Presentations cover Apple technology and integration in a heterogeneous university enterprise environment. This month’s meeting will be held on Wed, April 15th, 2026, at 11 AM MT virtually using Zoom. Live broadcasts and archives are available to the MacAdmin community 2-3 days post-meeting.
GitOps for MacAdmins – Jacob Burley, European fintech
This presentation explores GitOps for MacAdmins: what it is, how it works, and how you could implement it to make device management a little easier.
GitOps is an approach to device management that treats your Mac fleet the same way modern engineering teams manage infrastructure: everything is defined as code, stored in a Git repository, and automatically enforced. For MacAdmins, this means moving away from one-off changes in tools like Jamf Pro, Intune, etc., and instead managing profiles, scripts, and policies through version-controlled files. Every change is tracked, reviewable, and reversible, giving you a clear history of who changed what and why. When combined with automation (like CI/CD pipelines), updates can be tested and deployed consistently across devices without manual intervention. The result is a more predictable, scalable, and collaborative way to manage Macs—reducing configuration drift, simplifying troubleshooting, and making it much easier to maintain standards across your environment. This session will show how GitOps concepts can be applied in real-world MacAdmin workflows, helping you streamline management while gaining greater control and confidence in your deployments.
About Jacob Burley
Jacob Burley is a Staff Systems Engineer, living in Amsterdam, and working for a European fintech. He also maintains a technical blog that (mostly) talks about managing Macs (https://jc0b.computer). When he isn’t managing Macs, or writing about managing Macs, he enjoys cooking, taking long walks in nature, and photography.
Automating Jamf Pro Title Editor – Richard Glaser, University of Utah, Marriott Library
Managing software updates in Jamf Pro can become increasingly complex, especially when applications fall outside of built-in support. This session provides an overview of Jamf Pro patch management options, including Jamf Pro Patch Management, the Jamf App Catalog, App Store updates, custom patch sources, and tools like Installomator. We’ll highlight where each approach fits and why Title Editor becomes essential for managing unsupported or internally distributed applications.
We’ll then cover Title Editor fundamentals and requirements, including how it integrates with Jamf Pro as an external patch source and enables administrators to define and manage custom patch titles.
The session will primarily focus on automation workflows developed at the University of Utah Marriott Library, showcasing a set of open-source scripts that interact with the Title Editor API. These tools streamline tasks like creating titles, adding new versions, and managing updates at scale—reducing manual effort and improving consistency.
We’ll also briefly touch on how tools like Installomator support more complex scenarios—such as restricted software like GlobalProtect, Mac App Store applications requiring post-install configuration, and custom installation workflows—and how this approach fits within a broader macOS patching strategy.
