Time Management for MacAdmins – By William Smith , Jamf
Thirty years ago my boss told me, “You don’t find time. You make time.” Unless we’ve learned the skills for time management, we may feel parts or all of our workdays are out of our control.
• We have too many interruptions that cause us to miss deadlines.
• Our plates are so full we forget to follow through on commitments.
• We’re overworked, stressed and receive low scores on our performance reviews.
Taking three sections from my MacAdmins Conference at Penn State presentation “Time Management for Mac Admins“, I’ll loosely cover ideas from the O’Reilly’s book “Time Management for System Administrators” while adding my own experiences and revelations with managing my workload over the past 30 years, across seven jobs.
About William Smith
Bill has worked in the IT field for nearly 25 years as and enterprise administrator, a consultant and trainer. He is currently a Senior Professional Services Engineer with Jamf, headquartered in Minneapolis, working with education, enterprise and government clients.

Automating iPad Deployment – By Sam Forester, University of Utah, Marriott Library
Automating iPad deployment has been a difficult challenge for Mac SysAdmins for many years. With the advent of Apple’s Volume Purchase Program (VPP), Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, things have gotten easier, but are still nowhere close to perfect.
I’ll be going over how we’ve created a quick-turnaround, truly Zero-Touch Student Checkout iPad Station. Erased, Managed, and fully deployed with Apps without any user interaction. I’ll also be discussing the underlying tools, requirements, and process to setup your own station with equipment you, more than likely, already have (even without MDM).
