A Technical Update on APNS & MDM for MacAdmins – By Brad Chapman

Apple Push Notification service (APNs) is the centerpiece of the remote notifications feature. It is a robust, secure, and highly efficient service for app developers to propagate information to iOS (and, indirectly, watchOS), tvOS, and macOS devices. Building on previous presentations about APNS, this session is for enterprises with tight security requirements who need detailed information about how Apple devices communicate with Apple. More than just configuration profiles, this affects device activation, automated enrollment (formerly DEP), and other critical management actions. Apple has significantly raised the security posture of macOS and Mac hardware, making MDM essential for organizations of all sizes. Now, more than ever, it’s absolutely vital that institutions open the channels and understand clearly what’s at stake if they don’t.
