The macOS Security Compliance Project Update – National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST
The macOS Security Compliance Project has changed how organizations approach security compliance on the Apple platform. Over the past six years, the project has helped save millions of dollars in staff time, received endorsement from Apple, been published as a NIST Special Publication, and become integrated into major MDM platforms.
With the recent launch of mSCP 2.0, the project now provides an improved foundation for generating the artifacts needed to support security baselines, compliance frameworks, and operational deployment. Think of mSCP as the engine that powers macOS compliance automation.
This session will cover what has changed in mSCP 2.0, key improvements, practical use cases, and how organizations can use the project to streamline macOS security compliance across their environments.

macOS 27: What You Need To Know – Robert Hammen, SAP
Apple’s next major macOS release, macOS 27, marks a major transition point for Mac administrators. With Intel Mac support ending, Rosetta 2 nearing retirement, and Apple continuing its shift from traditional MDM workflows to Declarative Device Management, organizations need to start preparing now. This session will help MacAdmins understand what these platform changes mean for hardware lifecycle planning, software compatibility, app management, security controls, and long-term fleet strategy.
Robert Hammen will walk through the most important enterprise and administrative changes coming in macOS 27, including expanded DDM functionality, new network and certificate management options, remote sysdiagnose collection, Managed App Framework support for macOS, privacy consent changes, FileVault and Platform SSO improvements, and the latest updates to Apple Business. The session will also cover practical considerations for common MacAdmin workflows, including software updates, beta enrollment, configuration profile cleanup, app restrictions, Microsoft Exchange Web Services changes, and preparing for a future where DDM becomes the primary management model.
The presentation will also guide testing macOS 27 before release, including how to use AppleSeed for IT, test plans, beta profiles, physical hardware, virtualization, MacAdmin Slack resources, and Feedback Assistant. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what needs immediate attention, what should be tested in their own environment, and how to file useful feedback with Apple before macOS 27 ships.
About Robert Hammen
For over two decades, I’ve been a consultant, contractor, and employee, providing support and management for Macs, iPhones, iPads, and visionOS devices across various environments. My experience spans small and medium businesses, K-12 schools, Fortune 500 companies, and even the US government.
During my five-year tenure at SpaceX, I managed all macOS and iOS/ iPadOS environments. Notably, I served as the Responsible Engineer for Crew Tablets, sending 58 iPads and several other Apple devices into orbit with astronauts and cosmonauts. Additionally, I played a crucial role in expanding these environments by 5-9 times in terms of the number of devices.
In December 2024, I joined the Mac Services team at SAP as a Principal Mac Consultant. In this role, I assist with managing and securing SAP’s nearly 60,000 Mac environment, which is recognized as one of the best in the enterprise space.
