macOS VM’s on Apple Silicon with Anka   – Manisha Arora, Veertu Inc.

Veertu Inc is a pioneer in building DevOps infrastructure solutions for the macOS ecosystem. We built an Anka solution for Intel chip-based Macs which leveraged the hypervisor. framework interface in macOS to create and run macOS virtual machines (VMs). Anka solution enables a container-like DevOps workflow for working with macOS VMs for CI/CD purposes. Anka can also be used to create and run macOS VMs on top of AWS EC2 Mac Instances.

For Apple’s new ARM chip-based macs, Veertu has added support for creating and running macOS VMs on ARM-based Macs in Anka version 3.0.0 onwards. Anka support for ARM-based Macs uses macOS native virtualization framework to create and run macOS VMs. DevOps can take advantage of faster build/test execution on ARM-based Apple Macs and use Anka to implement containers like DevOps workflow for executing CI/CD pipelines. DevOps can also set up a heterogeneous environment consisting of Intel and ARM-based Macs for their iOS CI cluster and create and run macOS VMs.

Gollum Wiki Overview – James Reynolds, University of Utah

A Gollum Wiki is simply a git repository of human-editable files, written in formats like Markdown, AsciiDoc, and MediaWiki. It also has support for Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, BibTeX, MathJax, etc. The Gollum software renders the files in a webpage and also has a web interface to edit the pages and commit them to the git repository, view the history of changes, and compare them, similar to GitHub or GitLab. The software also has macros for adding extra functionality, like navigation. It is written in Ruby. It started out as the GitHub wiki system but the 2 have diverged as Gollum added functionality that GitHub didn’t use.

James will talk about how he found Gollum and why he now uses it for almost all of his documentation, note-taking, and other non-code text editings.

New Features in iMazing Profile Editor Ari Leviatan, DigiDNA

In this short presentation, Ari will walk Mac admins over the new features that are coming to iMazing Profile Editor which will make creating profiles for multiple OS versions easier than ever.

iMazing Profile Editor lets you create, edit, and sign Apple configuration profiles. Define settings with ease, ready to be deployed locally or via MDM to fleets of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple devices It provides a convenient and intuitive user interface that generates standard-compliant configuration profiles, saving the need to manually code XML files. It includes deep search capabilities that help locate the right setting by property title, name, or description, and modified-only saving ensures that only these settings end up inside of the profile, avoiding key clutter. You can customize the application to suit your workflows with display filters, and confidently deploy organizational settings to unlimited employees, students, and customers by digitally signing profiles. iMazing Profile Editor supports using custom manifest files provided by the user in PFM format. MacAdmins can add and override individual manifests in the application, or use a completely custom manifest repository, both online and locally.
