The University of Utah, MacAdmins Meeting is held monthly virtually on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11 AM Mountain Time. Presentations cover Apple technology and integration in a heterogeneous university enterprise environment. This month’s meeting will be held on Wed, March 20th, 2024 at 11 AM MT and we will provide live broadcasts and archives that will be made available 2-3 days after the meeting.

 

Microsoft Conditional Access with Jamf Pro – Sean Rabbitt, jamf


This presentation will delve into the integration of Microsoft Device Compliance and Jamf Pro, targeting Apple administrators seeking streamlined access management solutions. It will cover essential topics such as the significance of Conditional Access for Apple administrators and its implications on daily operations, alongside operational instructions for deploying Jamf Pro effectively. A key focus will be on addressing deployment challenges, particularly for on-premises customers, and engaging in a Q&A session to facilitate understanding and implementation.

Throughout the presentation, attendees will gain insights into the core components of Conditional Access, including Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory, with its array of features such as Single Sign-On (SSO), provisioning, and robust Conditional Access capabilities. The discussion will extend to cloud app policies and their evaluation, highlighting common policies and their practical applications. Additionally, the presentation will emphasize the pivotal role of Jamf Pro for Apple administrators in ensuring device compliance and seamless access management, providing step-by-step guidance on setup procedures for various device types, including mobile, wearable, and macOS devices.  Guidance on common pitfalls encountered during setup, such as browser compatibility issues and authentication prompts, along with insights into integrating Jamf Connect with Conditional Access for enhanced security measures.

Robert Schroeder is a seasoned Mac Engineer with a rich background in Information Technology, deeply rooted in the Education, Enterprise, Corporate, and MSP spaces. Beginning their IT career in 2006, Robert initially honed their skills as a Windows Systems Admin and SQL Database Admin before transitioning to managing Apple computers and devices in 2013. Throughout their career, Robert has been recognized for their innovative approach to Mac management, particularly in automating solutions to elevate the end-user experience.
