VMware ESXi, Mac & macOS – By
James Reynolds, University of Utah, Biology

This presentation will cover VMware’s ESXi, Mac systems & macOS. It will only cover macOS but he will mention the other OS’es and in particular Linux applicances.  James will talk about why MacAdmins should learn and implement ESXi in their infrastructure, if they already aren’t.  He’ll discuss ESXi, vSphere, other software packages, VMware history and Dell.  Then he’ll talk about hardware support to run ESXi and licensing, how to install and configure ESXI and what to use for datastores.  Finally he’ll talk about back ups and troubleshooting.

About VVMware ESXi
VMware ESXi is a purpose-built bare-metal hypervisor that installs directly onto a physical server. With direct access to and control of underlying resources, ESXi is more efficient than hosted architectures and can effectively partition hardware to increase consolidation ratios for infrastructures. It is an operating system-independent hypervisor based on the VMkernel operating system interfacing with agents that run atop it.

About VVMware vSphere
vSphere is suite of products packaged shipped by VMware virtualization company, which includes products. Like VMware ESXi hypervisor, VMware vCenter Server, etc.
